What to Consider When Buying a Acura Car  next article
When you want to buy your next Acura car, make sure that the fuel economy does not get lost in the shuffle of things. Buying a car with great gas mileage is both friendly to the environment and your wallet. You will like the financial savings throughout the life of the Acura car.

A lot is to be considered when purchasing a Acura car. If you are purchasing a used Acura car, checking the condition of the clutch, brakes, engine and transmission will play a huge role in how much that car will cost to run. Even minor problems can result in $100 repairs.

With new and old cars you need to find the make and model that has a proven track record and fits your specific needs. Make certain that fuel efficiency plays a role in your decision making. If you emerge from the car and truck purchasing process with a fuel efficient car you will take up less cash in your tank and have more dollars to spend on things that matter.

Take full advantage of what is known.

When it comes to car and truck maintenance, the one thing you can easily and accurately predict for the future is how much gas you are going to use. Fuel prices may fluctuate, but most people can spend a week or two logging their gas consumption and get a great idea of how many gallons they use. If you don't already know, track your gas consumption so you can use this information when purchasing a Acura car.

Make it the best priority.

One way to make certain that fuel efficiency is considered is to start by looking at a Acura car that gets good gas mileage. Make it the best priority and see where that leads you. The problem with today's cars and trucks market is car manufacturers know that gas mileage is not a significant consideration when purchasing a new vehicle for many United States customers.

Tightening up the numbers.

When you are evaluating a Acura cars fuel efficiency, ask yourself how long you think you will be driving the car and determine how much gas will be.

Let us say you want to get a used car for $4,000 and hope to drive it for 4 years. Below are some 4 year gas cost estimates based on driving 15,000 miles per year and buying gas for $1.40 per gallon. If gasoline is more expensive than $1.40, the costs will be even higher. A Sampling of Used Cars: 1994 Ford Explorer SUV (2WD) 4 year gas estimate = $5525 1994 Honda Accord Sedan 4 year gas estimate = $3885 1994 Honda Civic DX Sedan 4 year gas estimate = $2385 A Sampling of New Cars: 2004 Ford Explorer 2WD 4 year gas estimate = $6175 2004 Honda Accord 4 year gas estimate = $3750 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid 4 year gas estimate = $2235 2004 Toyota Prius Hybrid 4 year gas estimate = $1910

This is a little sampling of trucks and cars but you get the point. Unless you really need a sports utility vehicle or big truck, you can save a lot of dollars by purchasing a fuel efficient Acura car. You will sacrifice size and sometimes luxury when choosing fuel economy first. Part of this is because larger cars and trucks contain more weight and will naturally get worse gas mileage. But it is also a function of consumers not concerned about gas mileage when they make a decision on purchasing a new or used Acura car.

Acura in Review  last article

Acura cars have not been around for very long, but in their short time of existence they have created a name and customer base that can best be described as loyal. Following the successful ventures of Honda, Acura was developed as a line of luxury Japanese vehicles; which was a first for a Japanese car manufacturer. Acura had to overcome the common American and Canadian beliefs that Japanese vehicles are designed more for economy than luxury. The Acura Legend kicked off this movement in the mid eighties, and changed the Japanese car market forever with its refined classic styling, and impressive performance and handling.

With the introduction of the 1989 Acura NSX (all-aluminum body) super car, Japan took on the markets of Ferrari and Porsche head on with this 276 horsepower sport coupe and emerged in the dust to tell about it. Today, even the mention of the NSX brings tingles down the spines of tuners far and wide. But for many of us average Jane's and Joe's; settling for the less expensive Acura Integra will have to do as a close second best.

Complete with a sporty exterior and lively interior the Acura Integra finds balance between economy and performance, with a nice heaping scoop of reliability to top it off. Today however the Integra has been replaced with the all new Acura RSX (with the great looking spoiler); upscale sophistication, tuned suspension, and swooped engine makes this daily driver a pure pleasure to be behind the wheel of. An even more practical version is the Acura TSX, which incorporates European style, performance, and engineering with the roominess of a sedan.

Climbing a few notches above the TSX, one can step into an Acura RL which is Acura's largest sedan available today. Luxury is the best way to describe driving this elite class vehicle, but don't be fooled; this upscale driver also features an impressive sport package for handling and performance. "Comfort, convenience, and sportiness" as reported through Consumer Reports describes the Acura TL about as simply and accurately as you can get. Featuring an air pressure monitoring system, engine control module, and 6 speed manual transmission (all standard equipment), the TL is "fully loaded" even at its base price; and having been around awhile, this classic cruiser needs to prove itself to nobody.

Acura is especially popular with the tuner/performance enthusiast crowds in America; but with its huge aftermarket following, who could really blame them. Acura parts in general are not only easy to come by, but the performance upgraded Acura auto parts are even easier to come by. So building up a great tuner machine out of an Acura will be an easy feat, as well as rather enjoyable. But Acura has more than just super cars, sport coupes, and sedans; they also have an impressive line of SUVs; so let's step off the beaten path and look over two of them.

The Acura MDX forefronts the luxury end of things, while the Acura RDX is considered as more of a tuned crossover compact. The MDX is a mid-duty family hauler designed for those occasional excursions into the wild. With enough power and torque to get you where you need to go, your Acura MDX will not leave you stranded unless you wander into the "extreme" off-road. The Acura RDX, with its turbo-tuned engineering is considered Acura's answer to the popular BMW X5. Built to cruise the open highways, yet topple a mountain side or two if pushed to the task, the RDX is quite at home in both the city and country. Both make a great choice, as size and functionality will probably be your main deciding factor.
